Music to get you through the day. The weekend is almost upon us and if you have plans...cool. If not, that's okay too. Enjoy the music and I hope to be able to begin my Sunday Music Brunch soon. I haven't posted much bluegrass music but it's coming soon, be patient with me.
Have a Blessed, Safe, and Productive day.
henever hearing this group always brings a smile to my face because of the bluegrass/jazz fusion feel to it. These guys are wonderful in concert and I wish I could just sit in when they are recording an album. From Bela's banjo to victor's bass, to jeff's incredible sax playing(sometimes he plays two at the same time) to the Future Man's(Victor's brother) drum solos either on the drumitar or on the real deal, these gifted musicians will entertain you from begining to end
Another beautifully written compositions where you can tell musicians love what they do. We can't live in the past but I know Windham Hill Records is just a shell and many of these musicians have moved on but I thank God I had a chance to get some of their recordings. The combinations for the mandolins, flutes, violins, and percussions make a wonderful sound or lullaby for any child.
enjoy...
These two tracks are not about Aretha or Steely Dan...they are about Chuck Rainey. He is one of the best session musicians around. He has played on countless recordings and what I love about his style is that even though you think he's not there(playing) his playing is a very important. His style is very laid back but has a very clean, smooth sound to it. The great thing about some bass players is knowing when to lead and when to follow...Mr. Rainey is one the best at this.(note: if you listen really closely you can hear Michael McDonald in the background on the Steely Dan track.)

these compositions are for you dude. Enjoy
One thing I really respected about Will Ackerman, he know talent when he saw it and Michael Manring is not exception. To me he has to be one of the best bassist around. This is so ironic because Michael was going to be my next artist I was going to post and Dayv(and welcome by the way
) left this comment for me....
"The only Windham Hill artist that I'm well-versed in is Michael Manring. How do you feel about his innovative music? As a bass player, I find his solo works fascinating. The technique in this song, for example, is awe-striking, yet takes a backseat to the musicality of the song as a song."

Thank you for your comment Dayv
Dayv summed it up for me as well because not only is he a great soloist but when he toured with Montreux he knew how to play within a ensemble as well and to me that to me shows how humble is as well. He knows when to step forward and step back. Hope you enjoy the tunes today.
Here I'm posting a song from his solo project and a couple of songs from when he recorded with Montreux
Hear is a solo piece by Michael...no looping and no overdubs...
Here is a couple of tracks from when he recorded with Montreux...
