Earl Klugh...Move
Wednesday night I was going through my music trying to find music with just guitarist (acoustic and electric) to make a mp3 cd and I came across this cd I have of
If I ever owned a web business, a barber shop, an advertising agency, Earl Klugh would be a MUST coming out of the speakers through my business.
Enjoy. ^_^

{This is how these songs make me feel...feel free to attach your own "sentimental" feelings to each song if you wish}
Across the Sand (Part I & II)...I love the vocal arrangement on these two tracks...guitar and harmony flows so beautifully. ^_^
Doin' It...A very nice relaxing track to play when you have that special "someone" over.
Move...the tempo of the is song makes me think of Chicago downtown (for my buddy Ms. G)
Highway Song...The song speaks for it's self. Driving along as the sun is about to set.
Tiptoe'in...a song for you and your sinificant other to just be plain silly and have a good time
Nightwalk...a nice little song when you and your friends are hangin' out on a Friday evening
Stevie Wonder...Living for the City
It's amazing that when your a child you really do not get the true meaning of a song and I mean the true meaning of a song. You may get some of the true essence of a song but when you are older and sit back and listen to the song it really hits home. Stevie Wonder's "Living for the City" is that song for me. Just listening to it brings tears to my eyes because how it really rings true today. Even though we as hard working, law abiding, tax paying African Americans have made major strides we still find ourselves sometimes fighting battles in corporate American (something as simple as not really feeling at ease talking with each other while our White co-workers can stand by each others cubicles and talk for long periods of time, how they can surf the web at their desk for their next vacation trips and we can not), battles within our own communities (some of our people will call us "sell outs" just because we want a better life for ourselves or our children, to send our children to better schools...we need to wake up black folks, "Keeping it Real" means striving for better; not living, talking and carrying ourselves like thugs). It gets very tiresome fighting this struggle at times but we still keep going because in the end this makes us stronger, wiser, taking each day as another wonderful day to make an positive impact on the world, in our home, within ourselves.
Paul McCartney...Silly Love Songs/My Love
These songs brings back so many warm fuzzy feelings and memories growing up in the 70's for me. From the true cartoons (Looney Tunes, Scobby Doo, ABC Schoolhouse Rock), having butterflies in my stomach when seeing Cynthia Bland for the first time in 5th Grade, spending the night with my grandmother (my hero and my Geek Guru...LOL) in East St. Louis, watching Saturday Night Live watching skits with John Belushi, Dan Ackroyd, Garrett Morris, watching Mr. Bill skits. I am so blessed that I grew up in this era because for 60's-80's era (Baby Boomers and Generation X) we truly have great music, great movies, great TV shows to reflect back on and this brings a smile to my face.
Thank goodness for the internet. Listening to songs like this when I was a "wee lad" I had to enjoy them by myself because many of my friends thought I was strange to begin with but at the time I couldn't find the words to explain that music was not a color barrier...either it was good or bad. To me Paul McCartney will be one of favorite song writers. The lyrics, the arrangements, the tempo...he truly has a true gift. With McCartney he has two careers...with The Beatles and with Wings. Two of my favorites songs by Paul when he created Wings are Band On the Run and Let 'Em In. I love how he has always used string arrangements, horn arrangements. I never really noticed this but it's best to listen to Let 'Em In with a very good pair of headphones or earbuds to truly experience this song. Until now I never really heard the vocal arrangements in this song until now. To the sutleness in this song brings a smile to my face. The first time I heard Band On the Run I was about 12 years old and I usually went to bed with the radio on and you know how sometimes how you are sleep and at the same time you incorporate sound that are really on in your dreams. I can't really remember my dream but I do remember this wonderful song while I was dreaming. Mama Used To Say is truly a summer song. I have to find the extended version of this song but this will do for now (hey I can't complain, I found this CD, Pure Funk Vol. II at the library so when it's free to check out you can't be choosy). I think Junior may have had a couple of other hits but he will be known for this wonderful fun Summertime hit. I know this came out before Spike Lee's "Do The Right Thing" but just the feel of a fun, hot Summer day...this song buts me in that frame of mind The track Porcelain from Moby (from the Pure Moods vol. III) makes me thankful that I did not follow the pack when came to listening to music. I have always enjoyed music that was different...hey I was an outcast so why not go all the way, huh? This song puts me in the mind when sitting home on Saturday evening watching the sun set and the red/orange glow as it sets while sitting on my patio erases the stress for week I had before. Listening to this type of music, enjoying the company of your loved one or the present of God makes me just thankful he has blessed men and women to bring these type of compositions to the masses. (wait...this is 4 tracks not 3...I'm sure you don't mind a extra one thrown in here, do you?)
